Earlier this year, the project received a grant from the American Alpine Club to conduct surveys for wolverines and pikas and interview herders about wildlife across Mongolia’s Khangai Range. Project director Rebecca Watters and anthropologist Marissa Smith will hike from Tsetserleg in Arkhangai Aimag to Uliastai in Zavkhan Aimag, hitting high country as well as valley bottoms where families are likely to be camped for the summer. We will be on the trail from approximately August 15th to September 15th. You can follow the progress of the expedition at this Spot page: http://share.findmespot.com/
(So far, this hasn’t been working very well as we’ve tried to test it in Ulaanbaatar. Hopefully that’s just because of tall buildings and bad weather.)
